ON PAPER > Red Pools
(2014)
In this series, Yael tried to plunge into the depth, and come back. Red Pools conjures both joyous and violent moments in external and internal landscapes. Although the horizon line is missing in these paintings, the viewer experiences space that suggests a physical reality.
The color intensity of soft pastels helps to express all of that. Gauguin said that “color which, like music, is a matter of vibrations, reaches what is most general and therefore most indefinable in nature: its inner power.” In the context of art, colors are also actors that perform roles in the story unfolding within each piece.
