In Yael’s abstract series Between Heaven and Earth, the shape of the square forms the basis from which the composition erupts. The squares are being pulled by gravity and yet suspended between heaven and earth, as if they have an inner spirit that resists that pull. The resulting abstracted space is made of the energy of the pastel marks and the physicality of the shapes..
