Float (2021-present)
A series of oil paintings that is ongoing, exploring the destruction and regeneration in nature, as fallen branches and water lilies co-exist along the banks of Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park, NY. Following the Pandemic and all its attendant anxiety and sadness, Yael felt the need to paint the beauty and calm that come from connecting to nature. The paintings also evoke the energy that produces endless, ever-changing variations on form. Through this series, Yael finds the Garden of Eden here and now, and pays homage to the magnificent water lily paintings of Claude Monet.
